Q-Switch skin lasers erase or fade color such as age/sun spots, yellowish sun damaged skin, dark spots from acne, freckles, spider veins and tattoos. This laser can also cause skin to produce more collagen = looks younger and more firm.
Skin creams that claim to fade spots and facials with red lights do not work to solve these issues. Only skin lasers are proven to work!
IPL lasers can remove hair and also provide ongoing maintenance such as lightening skin color, blending skin color so spots and other damage are less noticeable, etc.
You only live once
Anything that makes you look better can make you feel better about yourself which also improves mental health and overall well being of life.
Sometimes improving an issue with appearance opens doors to other improvements such as joining a gym, going on more trips, wearing sexy clothes, feeling more confident and just wanting to get out and enjoy life more.
Let's start by explaining what we can, or cannot do for you.
Our Q-switch laser can treat and improve the following issues: Sun damaged skin, remove brown or age spots/freckles, remove tattoos, clear up older and yellowed skin to look younger, improve wrinkles, remove spider veins, smooth and improve acne scars and other anti-aging skin improvements.
Another service is carbon laser peel. This is similar to a mask. The laser interacts with the black carbon mask to perform a cleansing that goes deeper than is possible with normal mud, clay and other masks.
A reality is skin lasers can make obvious improvements to skin but cannot 100% convert 60 year old skin back to 25 year old skin. However, when spots, discoloring and other age and sun issues are improved 60 year old skin can look much younger, fresher and brighter.
There is a reason 60 to 80 year old famous people look so young. They keep their skin looking younger with treatment from skin lasers!
Lasering for these anti-aging and sun damage skin issues is called Cosmetic use of laser.
Medical/Surgical lasering is different. We do use intense lasers such as Co2 to burn off deep layers of skin as when cosmetic surgeons perform laser surgery. This is called Ablation. This type of intensive lasering literally vaporizes the top layers of skin, is painful and requires many weeks and months of healing and recovery. This type of intense use of lasers is best done by a cosmetic surgeon who specializes in medical/surgical use of lasers.
As you can see, there is a difference between cosmetic anti-aging/beauty use of laser vs. medical/surgery use of lasers.
Our focus is anti-aging and looking younger!

Q-switched laser, how does this work? Using a tattoo or dark spot from sun damage as the example, this type of laser targets the dark color. The laser does not burn your skin, it hits the cells that contain the dark color and dissolves them. The dissolved spot or freckle may be absorbed into your body or rise up into a scab and flake off. New clear skin replaces the older discolored skin.
And/or this type of laser can target and clear spider veins or cause your skin to produce more collagen which causes skin to look younger, brighter and tighter.
Hair removal is different and requires some information and education. You may have heard of IPL lasers. The IPLs for home use sold on Amazon and are not true lasers.
Be careful with home use skin care equipment. And, many "medspas" claim to offer laser hair removal yet are using cheap and inexpensive fake IPL devices from Amazon.
The main issue is these home use devices on Amazon is they lack the power and frequencies of a professional medical grade skin laser.
One way to notice if a Medspa is using a cheap fake IPL or laser is their price. A medical quality IPL or laser is very expensive and it is not possible to purchase these expensive devices and then offer cheap and inexpensive services.
If you look at reviews or Youtube videos of IPL devices most are home use and sold on Amazon. These review videos are actually promotion/advertisements for these false IPL devices.
These at home use IPL devices may work slightly, but this requires weekly use over 6 months to 1 year. A professional medical IPL laser can complete the job in a few appointments.
Only professional medical grade IPLs and lasers have the power to actually do the job and kill/remove hair in fewer sessions.
Professional/Medical lasers are not available for sale on Amazon or to the general public.
Professional IPLs are used for removing hair and also to maintain skin that was already cleared with a q-switch laser.
An example is if we clear your shoulders of sun damage/spots with the Q-switch laser the IPL laser can then be used to lighten and blend your skin so it looks younger and more natural.
To manage your expectations some issues such as removing a tattoo or specific sun-spot can result with total elimination of the spot. However, as people get older and have more sun damage across their body and want to look younger, there the starting sessions that clear the skin and then through the year it is important to schedule a few appointments to maintain skin and keep it looking better.
What are the most common risks? People with light to medium skin color are the best candidates for skin laser because of the contrast between light skin and dark color such as sun-spots or freckles. It is easier for a laser to identify and target coloration against lighter skin.
Assume your skin is black, removing dark tattoos can be a bad idea because the laser may remove the dark color of skin as well as the dark ink of the tattoo. This can leave white spots. For this reason we suggest people with very dark skin limit use of lasers to improving the face such as making acne scars less noticeable or increaese collagen to make skin look younger and more firm.
If you go in the sun and tan, it is best to stop and let the tan clear up and then start laser treatment. Staying out of the sun allows your tan to fade which enables the laser to more clearly target the coloration of skin damage.
If you get laser skincare and clear your skin what happens if you continue going in sun? Here is the honest answer. When people are young you notice their entire bodies tan evenly and when not in sun the tan fades evenly. The color is caused by Melanin in the skin.
As people get older this process is no longer so even. An example is tanning in summer and then winter comes but the tan fades in blotches. Some blotches of color never go away. Some of the coloring remains and over time becomes dark spots, blotches, yellowish skin, etc. This is how exposure to the sun causes skin damage, spots and discoloring over a lifetime.
If it takes 40 years to cause the sun damage please do not expect to undo the damage in 1 hour 🙂
If a laser is used to clear your skin and you continue to go back in the sun over time the sun damage will start up again.
Not that we suggest this, but it is possible to clear up sun damaged skin, continue to enjoy time in the sun and come back for appointments a few times per year for more skin clearing as part of yearly ongoing maintenance = you can enjoy improved skin while still spending time in the sun.
Plasma Spark: These are small devices with a needle at the end. When pointed at a freckle or small mole a spark shoots from the needle tip into the freckle and fries the freckle.
This causes a small red spot. As the spot heals the freckle is gone and replaced with new and clear skin. This device works well for specific freckles.
Number of appointments and healing time between appointments:
Most skin issues can be improved in 1 to 5 appointments. However, depending on the work done to your skin the time for healing could be 4 weeks between appointments. For people who live in the DR this is obviously easier to manage than people to travel to DR for vacations or to stay time like winters. If you want to get affordable lower cost laser skincare when in DR vs. super expensive in the USA or Canada you and we can figure out a plan where you travel to DR through the year and schedule ongoing laser work while you are here.
The pictures below show how a Q-switch laser targets color in the skin to dissolve it. And, 2nd picture shows how a plasma spark device works on freckles. Picture 3 shows how a laser targets hair follicles for hair removal.
